QBTS April Meeting -- with Amy Stewart Winsor

Amy Stewart Winsor was our guest speaker and teacher for this month.  She taught a class on curves and her lecture featured her improvisational style and some tips on how to correct common quilt mistakes.  It was great fun!!  Her quilts can really be described as whimsical and certainly colorful.  Her website is:  Amy's Art Quilts and you can just click on this link.  She also has an Etsy shop where she sells many of her smaller quilts.

This quilt was made to commemorate the 9/11 attack.

This quilt and the previous were actually photos taken of slides.  This was a remake of a quilt her mother had started and she certainly improved it.

The following are several of the quilts she showed but is not comprehensive as many were up and down before I could take a picture.

This shows the use of curves and her strip piecing.  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed seeing curves used this way.

This was one of my favorites.  Think is was called 5 AM.

This was commemorating the attack in Oklahoma City.

This was the pattern she has for sale.

I really liked this one of her wonky log cabins.  Perfect for hand dyed fabrics.  I did one of these a long time ago and really enjoyed the process.

This was basically the technique she taught in the class.  As I  have had many classes on curves, I passed on this one.

She had many more quilts she shared but the two folliowing ones were probably the most ambitious that she showed!

It features her randomly pieced background with the colorful appliqued houses.  The saying is:  "If you want to see me, come over anytime.  If you want to see my house, make an appointment".

This was made to commemorate many of the important events described in the Book of Mormon.

The following are some of the quilts shown at Show and Tell.  There were far fewer members there last night than usual because of the horrible weather we had (4+ inches of rain that day).
