Forgive the picture as I took it with my telephone as I didn't have my camera downstairs. (I am surprised it turned out this well frankly). It is the newest of the Serendipity quilts. You may remember that I took an existing top completely apart so that I could use the fabric in this kind of quilt. The quilt top already had two incarnations -- first as two tops and then combined. I just couldn't seem to finish it but loved the fabric.
I am having my usual fun with this but lapsing to what seems to be my favorite block as I can do it so many different ways. I won't get t his done this week but will have a good start on it.
I did still have a picture of the top in its previous incarnation!! Luckily I had used 3 1/2 inch strips for the stars so I just had to cut 10 of them down to 3 1/4 inches and then cut the rest in half for the background hexagons. I already like the new incarnation better but who couldn't like blue and green together with white -- very Monet Waterlilies, a color scheme I have used before in log cabin quilts.
Couldn't have a blog without a few nature pictures. This was a very small (maybe an inch wide) butterfly that I haven't identified yet. It demanded to have its picture taken.
This is the most prolific wildflower down here at the beach and they bloom all summer -- I think they are painted daisies and before too long, they will attract more butterflies.
I was surprised to see these pretty yellow flowers and didn't know what they were until I came home and realized that there was cactus growing at the beach.
And the laughing gulls are back with their summer plumage which is much more graphic than their winter look. I don't see the laughing gulls here in the winter often -- mostly just the ring-billed gulls.
