Today was the Perinton Quilt Club's show. This is a relatively small guild here in Rochester with only about 100 members but they certainly put on a very nice show. This is their raffle quilt which I just loved!! It will get added to my Pinterest board for scrap quilts.
I forgot my camera so all of these pictures were taken with my phone camera which did a pretty good job!
As you first came into the show, there were rows of blue and white quilts which were part of a blue and white challenge. They were stunning and I didn't take pictures of all of them, there were so many This one by Vickie Coykendall was one of my favorites!
Tide Pool by Kimberly Swink. She had a number of beautiful quits in the show. I apologize in advance for not putting the names of the quilters on many of these quilts.
Something New by Barbara Grimsley.
Patty Pizzicato.
Mary Wieser.
Kathy Dewey.
This is a closeup of the quilting in the previous quilt. There are a lot of talented long arm quilters around here!
Gratia Pfromm. This also had a quilt top on the back!
Gail Mazur.
Blue and White Christmas by Patty Pizzicato.
Blue Mood by Jackie Stefl.
Pat Berardi.
There were lots and lots of nice quilts. I tended to take pictures of those that used scraps so I could use them as inspiration. This is by Charlotte Winkelbauer It uses lots of Asian fabrics.
Economy blocks by Kimberly Swink.
Lizzie's Aussie Quilt by Jennifer Darlak.
Puzzle Me This by Janice Allnatt.
Four Patch Delight by Ruth Gustafson.
Star Supreme by Janice Allnatt.
The Orange Spot by Mary Wieser. I found it, can you?
Celtic Fantasy by Paulette Sonner.
Cactus Rose by Debra Hogan from a Judy Niemeyer pattern. There were a few Judy Niemeyer quilts here. There were quite a few in the GVQC show as well.
Fire Island Hosta by Barbara Grimsley.
Paradise in Bloom by Barbara Grimsley. These last three were all Judy Niemeyer patterns.
Petals by Kimberley Swink. I thought this was a beautiful and unusual quilt.
Gemma's Quilt by Sue Potter-Tuma.
Birds of Paradise by Karen Hall These are my favorite flowers and I have done two quilts featuring them from photos I took in California.
Bessie by Barbara Grimsley.
Kalaidoscope by Sue Parisi.
It's a Small World by Debra Hogan.
Meadow by Kimberley Swink.
Snowy Penguins by Donna Peek
Uncommon Friends by Janice Allnatt.
Tulips by Barbara Grimsley.
Pat Berardi
There were a lot more quilts but these all appealed to me the most!
This is a quilt by Alice Genereux and was my very favorite quilt in the show! I didn't realize until I looked at the label that the houses were all made from thrift store neckties, of which I have hundreds if not thousands. Of course, when I bought them, the most I ever paid was $1 and it had to be an exceptional silk tie to pay that. Now I rarely see them for less that $3 or $4 each. The quilt certainly gives me ideas of how to showcase my "collection". I have made a couple of quilts with them but used the ties exclusively.
This is a closeup so you can seer the ties -- I am pretty sure I have one just like that one!
Of course, two of the stars of the show were these two small silk appliqued quilts by our own Chris Wickert. She consistently wins at national quilt shows with her stunning quilts.
The hand work in the small quilt is beyond belief!! And it is all in silk as well! No one even comes close to her workmanship.
This seasonal quilt was by Cynthia Fleming. I think I liked the small quilts almost the best this time!!
The next two quits were done by Diana Adams and were beautifully done!
Fellow RAFA member Liz Scott would love this one!!
These next five were all large and unfortunately I didn't get the names of the quilters!
I am going to add this one to my Pinterest page of scrap quilts that I might do some day -- also the next one will go there too!
These quilts are all by quilter and teacher Tina Somerset who is hosting a Design Club at Patricia's on Saturdays starting this fall. I would sign up if I was in town. Her quilts are gorgeous and it would be a wonderful refresher of several techniques!
This is the booth of my friend Julia Deal who runs SEW Artistic. I have been consigning some of my handbags, pouches, mandalas and t-shirts to her. She is has been teaching serger classes and is a master at creating designs and using those machine embroidery machines. She sells on First Fridays and Second Saturdays at the Hungerford Building in downtown Rochester. She also sells her designs on Etsy.
This was the 40th anniversary show of one of our local Rochester Guilds and it was really quite spectacular!! The highlight of the show was the presentation of 50 red and white quilts. This had been a challenge made by the president. They were obviously all different sizes and a few of these follow.
There were a number of really well done quilts and I did get the names for a lot of them as I know a lot of the people!! This one was done by Pat Berardi who likes curves as much as I do!!
This was done by Charlotte Winkelbauer from a kit.
This is a view of Crater Lake by Elaine Criswell.
This is Glacier Star by Beth Allen. I am sure this is a Judy Niemeyer design.
I loved this piece by Janet Allmatt -- curves of course!!
This is a piece by Jenna Darlak -- I believe I took a course from the woman that taught this pattern but I didn't make this one -- I really like the colors.
This and the next piece were kalaidoscopes done by Sue Parisi and I thought they were just spectacular and definitely my very favorites in the show. One (or maybe both) with be featured in Paula Nadelstern's next book!! Oh, what you can do with bilaterally symmetrical fabric and I may rethink getting rid of all of mine!!
Can you believe how beautiful these quilts are!!!!!
I was also very drawn to Mary Wieser's quilts, of which this is one!! The next several were all hers. She has such a wonderful sense of color and texture!!
I think this was my favorite of her quilts and was done for a recent RAFA exhibit on interpreting photographs into quilts.
These next three quilts I don't have names for but really liked them!
This one was huge and even with my small camera, I couldn't get the whole thing in the picture!!
This was a really spectacular quilt and the quilting was awesome -- I couldn't get a picture to give me the detail I wanted for the quilting though.
This was by Sherri Lasky and I really liked the colors and the simple but very effective design.
This was done by Vicki Coykendall who is a fabulous artist!!
Last but not least is this tote bag which I really liked but done know whether I would have the patience to stuff all the tubes that make up the bag. Not quite sure how she did that!!
