Back in Rochester - RAFA May Meeting

There was some really nice pieces from show and tell this month at RAFA.  There were two people who had some fantastic felted work at this meeting.  This first photo is of pieces that Donna P did in a class down in Asheville -- can't remember the teacher's name but these are felted with fine silky wool and then colored with acid dyes. Donna concentrates on wearables and hopes these pieces will be incorporated into some garments.
These are some more of the pieces that Donna did.

This and the next are closeups of a couple of the pieces.

This is a jacket Donna made from some fabric that she had previously dyed!  I LOVED this fabric -- good job!!

What is fun about this group is to see how year over  year, the quality of the work gets better and better!

Demaris V is another of our resident felters and this is a shawl she made using a pine needle technique which she said was very time consuming and she was glad she didn't make the shawl larger.  She does beautiful work!

Demaris likes to do felted animals and here are two she showed.

Julie B will be demonstrating how to make these felted balls in our August meeting.

Sarah T shared one of her beautiful beaded pieces that will be in the "Finders Keepers" show that RAFA will be having at a local gallery.  Gorgeous as all of Sarah's pieces are!

She also shared a couple of her needlepointed pieces that she did whille snowbirding in Arizona.  Her work is exquisite and this picture doesn't begin to show the intricacy of this piece.

Another of Sarah's pieces.

This was a piece by Mary W which she was using for several challenges!

This quilt top was totally hand sewn by a new member to the club!

Sue D did these cute covers for Altoids boxes.

There were even more quilts, especially all the entries for the Finders Keepers exhibit but thought I would present some of the more unusual items!
